Giant Kelpfish, Heterostichus rostratus

Giant is a relative term when it comes to the Giant Kelpfish whose average size is only about 12 inches.  However what is truly massive about these creatures is their ability to blend in with their surroundings.  Spotting one of these fish amongst the kelp is about the equivalent of a birdwatcher sighting an Ivory Billed Woodpecker.  Any West Coast diver will appreciate this colorful art on his or her wall . . . it might even boost their karma for in situ sightings.
